"I'm often asked how I got into my career fields and I always find that a difficult question to answer simply.
The best way to explain is that it came about not just from my training and work experience but also from
my childhood and family heritage. My career's more than a job, it's a reflection of my life." ~ Jennifer, 2011

Background

VANUATU
CHILDHOOD
Born in Sydney, Jennifer grew up as a child in Vanuatu, a French pacific island off the east coast of Australia. She went to French schools there and soaked up the dialects of the local communities - French, British, Americans, New Zealanders, Asians and the beautiful islander voices. These combined with her parents' passion for theatre, music, accents and languages had a deep impact ... and thus began her love of performance, sound and communication.
FAMILY HERITAGE
Her maternal grandparents were professional stage, film & radio actors and foundation members of The Independent Theatre in Sydney, and her uncle David Nettheim had an illustrious career as a professional actor, writer, voice-overs artist and broadcaster. A member of London's Old Vic Company with Vivien Leigh and Patrick Stewart, he also worked with Sir Laurence Olivier & Robert Helpmann, wrote and acted with Peter Sellers, and played Chaucer in A Canterbury Tale on the West End for over 3 years. In Sydney, he acted in Chekov's Uncle Vanya alongside John Bell & Barry Otto at the Nimrod Theatre (now Belvoir), and in the Sydney Theatre Company's acclaimed production of Nicholas Nickleby.
Jennifer is proud to be one of the family’s next generation of artists alongside brother Rodric White (pianist, composer and arranger), cousins Daniel Nettheim (film and television director: The Hunter, Angst, Rush, Secret Life of Us) and Matthew Nettheim (stills photographer: Where the Wild Things Are, Rabbit Proof Fence, Little Fish, Somersault).
